In 2014, Ryan (Firsts) & then manager Benners (Vets), decided that the long standing tradition of the club should be celebrated.
Dee Rangers are proudly the longest serving Sunday League club in Chester and since 1982 have had hundreds of players wear the famous Blue & White Hoops. The Legends Day is a day where both the First Team & The Veterans face off against one another in our own “Charity Shield” in an effort to bring together two great sets of lads, as well as the traditional ringer or two for either side – with only one major rule; you must have donned the famous Hoops at least once. In 2016 current Vets manager AB suggested that the event be used as a way to help the club raise much needed funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity in memory of our friend Tom Arnold.
The score line is etched onto the shield and will be forever entered into Blue & White History but you can only be voted Man of the Match if you come back to the pub afterwards!
“We wanted to give the current lads a taste of what the standards of being a proper Dee Ranger is all about, the commitment, the banter and the camaraderie. The lads from both teams have done a fantastic job and the day has been a great success I can’t wait for it to continue to grow and hopefully drag a few lads that have maybe hung up their boots. It would be great to see the numbers get ever bigger!”
